What is VRF?
What is a Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) System?
A ductless multi-split includes multiple indoor evaporators connected to a single condensing unit. Ductless products are fundamentally different from ducted systems in that heat is transferred to or from the space directly by circulating refrigerant to evaporators located near or within the conditioned space. Variable refrigerant flow multi-split systems consisting of the following matched components:
• an outdoor unit with single or multiple compressors or variable capacity compressor or with a variable speed drive
• indoor unit(s) that have a coil, air movement device intended for single zone air distribution, and a temperature sensing control
• a zone temperature control device.
Key Attributes:
-Energy Efficient
-Individual, Tight Temperature Control
-Very Quiet
-Numerous Zones
-Wide Range of Units
-Premium Price
-Centralized Plant with Long Refrigerant Piping
What Makes VRF Systems Different?
-Zoning System
-2 or 3-Pipe System
-Two-Wire DDC Control
-Operates as a Heat Pump
-Variable-Speed VFD Compressor
-Multiple Indoor Units (100 - 150% Capacity)
-Up to 50 Indoor Units per System
-Variable Capacity Indoor Units
-Simultaneous Cooling & Heating
